Femkes Miles on Top vs Horntools Themis 140
The Femkes Miles on Top and the Horntools Themis 140 are both hardshell tents in the same part of the market, which makes them a genuine head-to-head rather than a comparison across categories. Femkes and Horntools take noticeably different approaches to the same problem.
Inside, the Themis 140 gives 2.97 m² of sleeping floor against 2.47 m², about 20 percent more, though both are rated for 2. The Miles on Top lists $800 lower, at $2,159 against $2,959.
The Miles on Top uses aerodynamic ABS, waterproof, with upholstery on bottom; the Themis 140 uses ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene). Canvas differs too: polyester mix with cotton 280 gr fabric, waterproof and fire-retardant against cotton, linen, polyester with PU coating (water column 2000 mm).
Femkes
Miles on Top
Miles on Top is Femkes's ABS pop-up hardshell that rises vertically on four gas springs to sleep two on a 7 cm mattress. It is offered at a lower price point than the brand's Khosi tents and can be fitted with an optional Kajto awning, extended ladder, and anti-theft kit. Femkes lists a closed size of 214 x 127 x 31 cm and an approximate 70 kg weight including ladder and mattress.
- 7 cm mattress, the thickest standard mattress in Femkes's range
- Three doors plus a front window, all with mosquito netting
- Lower entry price than Femkes's Khosi tents
- 92 cm interior height is the lowest among Femkes's tents
Horntools
Themis 140
The 140 cm two-person version of Horntools's Themis hard-shell roof tent, with an ABS shell that opens in under three minutes to 100 cm interior height. It has three entrances, four windows with fly screens and blackout blinds, integrated LED strips and a 7 cm memory-foam mattress, and packs down to a 30 cm profile. It is the smaller of Horntools's two Themis hard-shell sizes.
- ABS hard shell packs to a low 30 cm profile
- Quick sub-3-minute setup with 2.6 m ladder included
- Three entrances and 7 cm memory-foam mattress
- Lower 100 cm interior height than Horntools's folding Elements tents
Which one to pick
Take the Miles on Top if the budget is fixed. Take the Themis 140 if you need the sleeping room more than you need the lighter tent. Beyond that the feature rows below — heater port, skylight, annex, cargo rails — are where the remaining difference lies.
