RoofBunk Adventurer vs Yakima SkyPeak HD

The RoofBunk Adventurer and the Yakima SkyPeak HD are both hardshell tents in the same part of the market, which makes them a genuine head-to-head rather than a comparison across categories. RoofBunk and Yakima take noticeably different approaches to the same problem.

By the numbers, the RoofBunk Adventurer brings 80 kg, 3.05 m² of floor, 145 cm of headroom and sleeps 3. The Yakima SkyPeak HD counters with 82 kg, 2.89 m² of floor, 171.45 cm of headroom and sleeps 2.

On weight they are effectively level — 80 kg against 82 kg — so the roof load question resolves the same way for both. Floor area is close to identical at 3.05 m² and 2.89 m², so neither wins on sleeping room. Headroom separates them further: 171.45 cm in the SkyPeak HD against 145 cm, which is the difference between sitting up to dress and doing it lying down. The Adventurer lists about 42% lower than the SkyPeak HD.

Which one to pick

Take the Adventurer if the budget is fixed. Beyond that the feature rows below — heater port, skylight, annex, cargo rails — are where the remaining difference lies.
