Gordigear Bonito vs NaïtUp Hussarde Family

The Gordigear Bonito and the NaïtUp Hussarde Family are both hybrid tents in the same part of the market, which makes them a genuine head-to-head rather than a comparison across categories. Gordigear and NaïtUp take noticeably different approaches to the same problem.

By the numbers, the Gordigear Bonito brings 98 kg, 3.27 m² of floor, 95 cm of headroom and sleeps 3. The NaïtUp Hussarde Family counters with 75 kg, 4.62 m² of floor, 145 cm of headroom and sleeps 5.

The Hussarde Family is 23 kg lighter at 75 kg against 98 kg, which on a factory roof rated for 68 to 75 kg is often the difference between a legal fit and a rack upgrade. Inside, the Hussarde Family gives 4.62 m² of sleeping floor against 3.27 m², about 41 percent more, and it sleeps 5 to the Bonito's 3. Headroom separates them further: 145 cm in the Hussarde Family against 95 cm, which is the difference between sitting up to dress and doing it lying down. The Bonito lists about 16% lower than the Hussarde Family. NaïtUp also backs the Hussarde Family for 10 years against 2.

They open differently: the Bonito is a pop-up and the Hussarde Family a fold-out. That is not cosmetic — it decides whether headroom is even across the tent or tapers towards one end, and how much of the roof the tent occupies when closed. Canvas differs too: 320 gr/m2 ripstop polyester-cotton blend, polyurethane impregnated and UV resistant against polycotton.

NaïtUp

Hussarde Family

The Hussarde Family is the largest and most spacious tent in NaitUp's Hussarde range, pairing a hard shell with a fold-out section to give a 220 cm-wide bed (210 cm long over part of the floor, 170 cm over the rest) for 2 adults and up to 3 children. NaitUp lists it from 75 kg without the ladder, packing to 215 x 125 x 28 cm, with polycotton canvas, 145 cm interior height and the patented NuFix mount. It is offered in Explore and Legend trims with a 10-year warranty.

  • Most spacious sleeping area in NaitUp's own range
  • 10-year warranty and patented NuFix mount
  • Fold-out design sleeps a family of up to five
  • Heavy; the maker quotes an 82 kg minimum roof-bar rating

Which one to pick

Take the Hussarde Family if you need the sleeping room more than you need the lighter tent. Take the Hussarde Family if your roof load limit is the binding constraint. Beyond that the feature rows below — heater port, skylight, annex, cargo rails — are where the remaining difference lies.
