iKamper Skycamp 3.0 vs iKamper Skycamp 4.0 Duo

Both of these are iKamper tents, so the question is not which brand to trust but which size and configuration suits your vehicle and how you camp. The Skycamp 3.0 and the Skycamp 4.0 Duo share iKamper's construction and warranty; where they part company is in the numbers below.

The Skycamp 4.0 Duo is 16 kg lighter at 59 kg against 75 kg, which on a factory roof rated for 68 to 75 kg is often the difference between a legal fit and a rack upgrade. Inside, the Skycamp 3.0 gives 4.12 m² of sleeping floor against 3.21 m², about 28 percent more, and it sleeps 4 to the Skycamp 4.0 Duo's 2. The Skycamp 3.0 lists $825 lower, at $3,425 against $4,250.

The Skycamp 3.0 uses dual-layer fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) with 25 mm air insulation; the Skycamp 4.0 Duo uses duraCore double-layer fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP). Canvas differs too: 300gsm poly-cotton blackout canvas against breathWeave 320gsm poly-cotton blackout canvas. On features they trade blows: only the Skycamp 3.0 has a roof skylight and a matching annex, while only the Skycamp 4.0 Duo has a heater or HVAC port and integrated LED lighting.

iKamper

Skycamp 3.0

The previous-generation Skycamp, still sold alongside the 4.0 range at a lower price. It gives up the integrated lighting and heater pass-throughs of the 4.0 but keeps the four-person platform and adds a Skyview roof window the newer tents do not have.

  • Roughly $1,275 cheaper than the 4.0 Quad
  • Skyview roof window
  • Works with the mature 3.0 annex ecosystem
  • At 75 kg it is the heaviest iKamper

iKamper

Skycamp 4.0 Duo

The narrowest tent in iKamper's 4.0 range, built for two. It keeps the 60-second fold-out mechanism and 118 cm standing height of its larger siblings on a 155 cm closed footprint, which is what makes it viable on smaller wagons and mid-size SUVs.

  • Fits narrow roof racks at 155 cm closed
  • 60-second setup
  • Integrated dimmable LED lighting
  • Costs more than wider tents from other brands

Which one to pick

Take the Skycamp 3.0 if you need the sleeping room more than you need the lighter tent. Take the Skycamp 4.0 Duo if your roof load limit is the binding constraint. Beyond that the feature rows below — heater port, skylight, annex, cargo rails — are where the remaining difference lies.
